A 79-YEAR-OLD woman was conned of her $800 gold necklace while she was out shopping at Syed Alwi Road on Wednesday morning.
She was approached by a man who claimed to know her, and invited her to a nearby coffeeshop for a chat.
He then asked to look at her gold necklace. When she refused, he grabbed it from her and fled.
Witnesses can call the police hotline at 1800-255-0000.
[Reporters don't know the difference between con and rob. In this case, it is clearly a rob. Sure he tried the con first and when he failed, he physically seized the item. Con was what the banks or the relationship managers did when they told elderly people that the "mini-bong" were capital guaranteed.]
